What is wrong with my typewriter?
I just got a Brother GX-6750 typewriter. Now, I know they are notoriously bad, but it was working fine in the first hour of typing my short story. That is, until my “tech wiz” brother got ahold of it and fiddled around. Now, when I press a key, it types something else. It is like this for most keys, so far as I can tell. Anyway I can fix this?
You say “most keys”–it sounds as though your brother has changed
the programme to a different language–various languages use some
keys in different positions. Go into the menu and check the language.

A Preview Of Three Of The Cws New Fall Shows On Dish Network
The new fall season Luckily, with the Dish Network DVR, you don’t have to make those hard choices. The DVR is a dual-tuner, meaning you can record one show while watching another, or record two shows at the same time. With all the new shows on the slate, you might as well pick a few that you think sound interesting and program them in your DVR. The CW Network on Dish Network is one of the many networks debuting a rash of new programming, hoping it will ignite a spark with viewers. Here’s a rundown of three of the CW’s newest, high-profile dramas: First up is the reboot of “Melrose Place.”
The reboot idea proved successful last year with the revival of “90210″, so the CW is trying it again and bringing back another former Fox hit from beyond the grave. The original “Melrose Place” ran on Fox from 1992-1999. The reboot will take place at the same West Hollywood apartment complex as the first series, with original cast member Laura Leighton playing landlady to the hot new tenants. Leighton’s character Sydney Andrews was killed off at the end of the fifth season, so it should be interesting to see how producers have resurrected her (though SPOILER ALERT: Sydney will be killed off AGAIN at the end of the premiere episode.)
Thomas Calabro, the only cast member to have been with the series throughout its entire seven year run, will also be back as father to the show’s newest bad boy David (Shaun Sipos). Other actors, such as Josie Bissett and Daphne Zuniga, will also appear in several episodes. The new cast includes Katie Cassidy, last seen in “Harper’s Island”, as publicist Ella; Jessica Lucas as first grade teacher Riley; and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz as Violet, a new transplant to the city. The new “Melrose” will premiere on the CW on Dish Network on Tuesday September 8 at 9 p.m ET/PT. In my opinion, this show will probably do pretty good. It’s a nice companion piece to “90210″, which performed solidly in the ratings during its freshman season, and its previews offer plenty of scandal and drama, two things that the viewers just love.
Another new series is “The Beautiful Life”, starring the tabloid-troubled Mischa Barton. Barton has spent the last few weeks in the spotlight after being admitted to the hospital for several days. People have speculated everything from drug use to a suicide attempt, but in the end, the distraction did not keep Barton from fulfilling her commitments to her new show. On “The Beautiful Life,” Barton plays model Sonja, an aging supermodel who is looking to reclaim her place in the spotlight. Her attempts are sidelined by her friend Raina (Sara Paxton), an up and coming teenage beauty with a secret past (don’t they all have secret pasts?) Also on board for some photo shoots is newly discovered Iowa farm boy Chris Andrews (Benjamin Hollingsworth), who is having trouble adjusting to the cutthroat-modeling world, and High School Musical’s Corbin Bleu as a former child model who is trying to launch his music career.
“The Beautiful Life” debuts its runway strut on Wednesday September 16 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Finally, hoping to cash in on the Twilight/”True Blood” craze is the new Kevin Williamson-penned series “The Vampire Diaries.” Nina Dobrev (“Degrassi: The Next Generation”) stars as 17-year-old Elena Gilbert. She and her 15-year-old brother, Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen, who just finished filming Piranha 3D) are still trying to cope with their grief and move on with their lives after the death of their parents. Elena, who has always been the star student, finds herself struggling to hide her sadness from the world. When the school year begins, Elena and her friends are fascinated by a handsome and mysterious new student, Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley). Stefan and Elena are immediately drawn to one another, and Elena has no way of knowing that Stefan is a centuries-old vampire (of course), struggling to live peacefully among humans.
On the other side of the spectrum is his brother Damon (Ian Somerhalder who played the ill-fated Boone on “Lost”), who believes vampires should be all about violence and blood instead of poems and cuddling. Williamson formerly wrote and created “Dawson’s Creek,” and also penned both Scream and Scream 2. Early buzz around the sappy vamps-in-love drama is not great – time will tell if it will survive the season. Despite the popularity of vampire literature right now, I wouldn’t be surprised if this show tanked and was cancelled after 6 episodes. If you’re still interested, and want to take a bite out of these lovebirds, “The Vampire Diaries” premieres Thursday September 10th at 8 p.m. ET/PT 9 (though if vamps are what you crave, I highly recommend is always a veritable shark tank of new shows. In reality, very few of them make it out alive, but as part of the viewing audience it’s up to us to decide what we think sounds good and what we will skip.you check out HBO’s “True Blood” instead.) In the Boston area the CW can be found on channel 56.

First, let’s talk about pricing your e-book. You’ve worked long and hard on it and you would like to price it so that everyone benefits. Frankly, a problem that most e-book authors encounter is the pricing scale of the material. When selling your e-book, sell it at a price that you think it deserves.
Make your topic precise up to the last details so that you will know who your audiences are, making it easier for you to come up with a price that you think they can afford. The price of your e-book should not exceed the financial capabilities of your buyers.
When a person thinks that your e-book is too expensive, it will not sell well. When doing your pricing research, always have your buyer’s financial capabilities in mind.
Always keep in mind that the number of pages in your e-book does not affect your pricing quotes. I’ve always believed that the quantity of words does not make an e-book better or more reliable. It is the whole content that matters.

Then keep the receipt for the mail and when the package arrives at your home, put it in a safe place with the receipt without opening it. This is proof that you had the document in your possession on the date stated on the mail receipt.
If you have done this strategy before your e-book has gone live, then nobody should have a copy of your work before that day.
Here are some other pointers on how to boost the sales of your e-books and make really good money.
Allow other publishers to have an excerpt of your e-book on their sites, allowing you more exposure. You can also make extra profits by making and selling monthly updates of your e-book.

Smaller than traditional laptops but larger than handhelds, mini-laptops offer most of the features you get from their bulky ancestors – web browsing, document creation, editing, and email – just slightly scaled down in terms of both size and power. Most appealing of all, they’re cheap. Mini-laptops range from $299 (for the most bare-bones version of the Asus Eee) up to $1,399 for a fully-loaded Fujitsu LifeBook U810. Though there’s some category overlap, mini-laptops shouldn’t be confused with ultra-mobile PCs (UMPCs), which more closely resemble handhelds and cost more (prices range from about $700 to $1,500) and the more-powerful ultra-portable PCs, such as Lenovo’s ThinkPad X300, which sells for a pricey $2,420.
Of course, there are some tradeoffs that come with mini-laptops’ bargain basement prices.
“You’re not going get a super-powerful processor in there, and usually you’re limited on storage space,” says Ian Bell, editor in chief of Digital Trends, a consumer-technology analysis site.
In addition, most subnotebooks lack CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drives so you won’t be able to play movies on your computer.
Mini-laptops trace their roots back to the One Laptop Per Child project, a program started by an MIT professor with the goal of providing every child in the developing world with a $100 laptop. Computer manufacturing companies soon took advantage of the commercial opportunity these tiny laptops created. With the 2007 release of the Asus Eee, a surprise hit for Taiwan’s Asustek, mini-laptops got their jumpstart.
The Eee is so popular, “now everyone is trying to copy them,” says Dan Ackerman, senior editor at CNET.com.
A slew of Taiwanese vendors unveiled models at June’s Computer expo, but rival products from big brands like Dell are on the way, too. Many use Intel’s power-efficient Atom CPU along with solid-state disk (SSD) drives, for better battery life, boot times, and shock resistance.

There are several other brands, and just because they are not on this list does not mean they are bad brands. In fact, in this time there is really no such thing as “bad camera brand”, but there are just certain brands that really shine.
Now if you want to bend just a bit, and you’d like to explore those later M series cameras, you can probably get a 1960-ish Leica M2 with a superb Submicron 50mm f2 lens somewhere in the $500-$600 range. All the same thoughts apply in regards to condition, etc. The biggest advantage of the M series over the old screw mount series is that if your fiance’ eventually wants to get a modern Leica (for work AND pleasure), any lenses he already has with the M2 would be interchangeable with the later camera.
Affordability may not be the first thing in the minds of true photography buffs. But, if comparable features are provided then, it is natural that the more affordable camera will be picked. This is what is tapped by the latest Pentax-k7 which is a greatly affordable DSLR camera which poses serious threat to Nikon and Canon in the DSLR scene. Compared to bulky DSLRs like Nikon D300 and Olympus E-3, the pentax-k7 is a small, compact and light DSLR in the market.

Are there any dslr’s that have a classic 35mm SLR type body?
I like the way 35mm dslr’s were sturdily built, not so much plastic, when I started photography in the 80′s. I like the simplicity of the settings, good viewfinders. I had Minolta SRT101, very basic.
I’ve looked at the digital SLR’s. The sturdiest, most classic feeling I have found are the Panasonic DMC-L1, Pentax K7, Olympus e-520, 620. The Panasonic and Olympus have small viewfinders.
I like to shoot landscapes and city scenes, some artistic black and white shots, portrait work, still lifes to paint from, and I need to record my artwork, paintings.
Budget $500 to $1200. I would like a fast lens for low light, indoor shots.
I have a panasonic LX3, but am interested in a DSLR for the viewfinder mostly, and variety of lenses.
I’m considering a Pentax Kx, with some good lenses.
The Sony A900 has a slightly more classic build than some, but too pricey for me.

Sadly, there aren’t really in that price range. The Nikon D700, particularly with a vertical grip, or the D3, feel remarkably like the venerable Nikon F5. Very, very solid, with good viewfinders. Other than that, the Pentax K7 looks a bit old school, but I haven’t used one. If you want a digital camera that feels pretty much just like an old film camera, your best bets are absurdly expensive, like the Leica M9 or a medium format camera with a digital back. The Leica M8 is dropping pretty steadily in price, so that might be an option for you. The small viewfinders are due to the crop sensors. If you want something with a large viewfinder, your best bet is to save up for a full frame camera. The cheapest full frame camera would probably be a used Canon 5d. I don’t particularly like the control ergonomics on canons, but other than that, they are good cameras.
I really wish that someone would make a metal bodied fully manual full frame digital camera, preferably one with no screen on the back, controlled by dials like the Epson RD-1. It would be great for beginners, and for people who want a simple, rugged camera.
