Fujitsu has dabbled in ultra-ultraportable machines for a while now, having released the LifeBook U810 and U820 tablet PCs. Now the company is ready to take baby steps into the netbook market, with its M2010. To be honest, though, this isn’t the bold move that Fujitsu should have–or could have–made.
Fujitsu’s M2010, according to company spokespeople, is geared a bit more toward kids. While not exactly child-size, the machine’s keys seem reminiscent of the keyboard on the 10-inch Acer Aspire One: a little on the smaller side, but with perfectly serviceable buttons (fujitsu fpcbp216ap computer batteires). At least the arrow keys are large on the M2010. And you’ll need them–though the touchpad has a nice, textured surface, its size is about average for a netbook. As for the screen, colors popped. Despite having the same screen size and glare-inducing coating as the Toshiba, and a slightly lower resolution (1024 by 576 pixels), the M2010 produced colors that seemed a little more vibrant and didn’t get lost in the shadows.
Overall, the design of the Fujitsu M2010 is uninspired. Its two-tone, hard-plastic case can be eye-catching, depending on the color you order (our flashy red unit drew a couple of double takes here at the office), but this 2.5-pound netbook doesn’t look much different from other models on the market. Its configuration–three USB ports (asus Eee PC 1101HA laptop battery), an SDHC card reader, a Webcam, one VGA-out, ethernet, and headphone and microphone jacks–is fairly standard, too.
Fujitsu doesn’t add much to the mix beyond Bluetooth and a few bits of bundled software. Roxio Creator LJ saves files out to external drives, as does the simple but extremely effective MyRecovery software (a three-button interface for creating and restoring system backups). Otherwise, you get the standard-issue Windows XP netbook experience (Microsoft Works, 60-day trial of Microsoft Office and all). http://www.laptop-battery.org.uk/
The performance? Let’s just say that it’s fairly average in some cases. The guts of this wee PC vary little from those of most netbooks, consisting of a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1GB of RAM, and a 160GB 5400-rpm hard drive. And with a score of 34 on WorldBench 6, it falls right in line with the performance of most current netbooks. The battery life dragged down its score the most. Fujitsu claims that the M2010′s three-cell battery hangs on for 2.5 hours, but it was more like 2 hours, 5 minutes in our tests. In the end, Fujitsu didn’t produce a bad machine–just a fairly average one. In a market already brimming with wannabes, I would have liked to see Fujitsu deliver more-daring designs, such as what it did with the U810, the U820, and the N7010 (which embedded a second touchscreen into an all-purpose portable). Plenty of other netbooks offer better performance for less. Might I suggest the Asus Eee PC 1008HA?

Through the Eyes of a Minister
“What is the most interesting wedding you have ever performed?” This is the most commonly asked question I hear after revealing that I perform weddings. Quite often I leave a wedding with a good story to tell. There is such an array of people in this world, thus there is a variety of ways to enact that sacred ritual: the wedding ceremony. Stories range from heartwarming to humorous. Qualifying one wedding as the “most interesting” would be impossible, but I can share some of my more memorable stories.
Starting with the humorous…once I had a groom who was especially emotional. In actuality, grooms are far more emotional than brides. I suspect there is something to the way the whole formal procedure is designed, in that the groom waits in suspense as his beautiful bride is presented to him. This particular groom was crying so profusely during the ceremony that his nose started running, making quite a mess. Being an efficient minister, I come to weddings prepared with tissue. In the middle of the ceremony, I offered him a kleenex and said, “You might need to blow”. Looking back I realize that might not have been the best choice of words, for then the bride stated, “That’s my job!” The shocked, wide-eyed groom exclaimed, “my grandmother is in the audience!!” Of course this was all on the microphone, which had the entire audience in stitches.
Weddings on a tight budget are usually more out of the ordinary. Once I was way out in the country somewhere waiting for a ceremony to begin. Trying to be sociable as I waited, I commented on the beauty of the cow that was about 6 feet from the archway under which the marriage was to be held. The person next to me said, “Oh yeah, we are having her (the cow’s) mother for the reception dinner, will you be staying?” That was a little too real for a city girl such as myself. Then just before the procession was to begin, I asked if they had music for the bride to walk down the isle to. One of her brother’s ran to an old rusty pick up truck, started it up, screeched up to the isle, opened the car door and turned on the radio. The bride, then proceeded to walk down the isle. She was as lovely as could be! It always amazes me that every bride I have ever seen is astonishingly beautiful. This I cannot say for grooms, however.
Though nearly every groom I have encountered has been very handsome and gracious, there are a couple who have made me cringe. One particularly elegant wedding, I came to my favorite part of the ceremony, in which I get to say, “You may now kiss the bride!!” The groom proceeded to lift her veil, lean back and say, “Ugh, do I have to?” Although it was meant to be a humorous remark, I believe as a bride, I would have said, “No, you don’t” and walked away from that one. Another groom was so hung over on the day of his wedding, that when I came to the part that he had to repeat after me, I had to say one word at a time so he could follow me.
I’ve performed over 1,000 weddings, however, and every one of them has touched my heart. Some move me profoundly, when love between a couple is so strong and their souls are wide open to one another. There is a vulnerability present that is indescribably beautiful. Being present to that, is like looking into the face of God. In every story, seeing couples through all the foibles and fun to the touching and heartwarming moments of their wedding ceremony, there is a sacredness to every one.

How does a newly ordained Minister advertise to officiate weddings?
As a newly ordained minister my brother is trying to meet the needs of couples who may have difficulty finding clergy to officiate their wedding ceremoney.
He has a non denominational christian prison ministry but would like to also make himself available to interfaith couples, military couples and couples where one partner may be incarcerated but wishes to make vows while in jail or prison.
During his prison ministry he met an inmate whose fiancee was pregnant and wished to be married but the couple was unable to find a clergy to officiate the wedding.
Can anyone suggest a way for a minister to make his services available to couples who may be having difficulties finding clergy due to extenuating circumstances?

Start by doing weddings for friends and family members at no cost, they will spread the word, and if he does a great job, he will start to get a lot of calls.
He can also make occasional posts on his local craigslist. But word of mouth is going to be the best way to go about this, as many people don’t want to trust their big day to someone they have never heard of.
