Brother LX3125 Review
Nice sized levers and simple controls make the Brother LX 3125 sewing machine one of the best sewing machines for anyone who wants a set of solid, utility stitches and easy operation.
It’s lightweight, extremely portable, and even has a built-in handle at the top of the machine.
This is a very basic sewing machine perfect as a backup machine or to teach young children how to sew. There are no complicated settings to worry about.
Brother LX 3125 Stitch Patterns
Many of today’s home sewing machines come with a programmed set of stitch patterns called “built-in stitches”. There are 14 such stitches on this machine including a straight stitch with the needle in the center, a straight stitch with the needle to the left (which helps get close to seam edges), several styles of zigzag stitches, a stretch blind hem stitch, a shell tuck stitch for hemming, and an elastic stitch. There is also a four-step automatic buttonhole maker.
Stitch length is adjustable up to 4mm and stitch width adjustable up to 5mm.
Stitches are selected by rotating the easy-to-grasp dial on the machine front to the desired pattern.
Brother LX 3125 Presser Feet
Four snap-on style presser feet are included with purchase. The presser foot lever has 3 height settings – regular down position, up, and an extra high up for thicker fabrics. These presser feet include the General Purpose foot used for most sewing, a Buttonhole foot to make buttonholes fast and easy, a Zipper foot for zipper attachment, and a Button Sewing foot which allows you to use the machine to attach two and four hole buttons.

you can open up the battery and find the weak set of batts in sets of 2.
I’m sure only 1 batt out of 8 went bad , them that put the load on it brother, the one along side the weak one then made them both bad out of the total set.
weather it’s weak or not a well batt do this,DELL Laptop Battery(Dell 1691P Battery), you can charge the batt for a hour, use it for a few minutes, then take it apart, and measure the voltage across each set , when you find lower voltage in one set out of all the sets, those 2 need to be replaced, and them the batt shoud last another year till the next set goes.
the outline is that not “all the cells go bad at the same time”, Dell 1691P Battery, Dell 75UYF Battery, Dell 5081P Battery Dell 6T473 Batteryit only take a weak cell in the chain or series set for the batt to be not useable and then the whole batt looks or seem dead
order some 18650 cells w/ tabs at 2300ma x 2 as a set = there 4.4 amp batt.

of course its easyier to find a weak cell if the whole batt is under a small load, this goes for any multicell series battery. you might try a 25 watt christmas tree bulb to make a load after you find the red + and the blk – main output of the apart batt, the light doesn’t glow sence it’s a 120v bulb, will just gives the regular comsumer away of getting a load to make finding the weak pair easyier.
Take Care, and be careful not to draw more than 1300ma out of the batt under the load, do this at your own risk, but this will save you alot of $$ if you get good at it, a 25 watt bulb should draw about 400 ma. out of the batt while your on the meter moving and comparing the sets of batts, you should see a big difference when you find the bad set.
replacements are on ebay for about $5 each , get the tab ones, solder the new ones in and charge over night and you sould be in good shape if you replaced the correct set.
it would cost you much more that $45 to replace all of them if you had a 14.8 v batt, 6 of them if you have a 11.1 laptop batt, with 2300ma high output cells each,Dell 75UYF Battery, try the 2200ma ones first, there cheaper and good for the first experiment.
all sellers and manufacturers LIE about their products, a 2200ma batt is really a 1800ma one, ect. only 1 batt out of 10,000 made can achive their advertized spec. if there lucky.
These batt explode, done short anything, don’t overcharge, these batts like 1 degree C as in heat either from the inside or out side, if they get warm to the touch, your doing something wrong, STOP Now.. THEY Will Blow UP in your face !
This a common problem for all recent Dell laptop models. I have a Inspiron 1501 and the same thing happened to my battery. When I bough my laptop I was offered a great deal on a second battery so I bough one as a back up. Since the laptop only takes one battery at a time I only took the second battery with me on long trips. Even though the seconds battery only got occasional BOTH batteries died within days of each other and both mere days after I had them for 1 year. I find it odd that BOTH batteries would die at the same time. If you do a search for the terms DELL BATTERY NOT RECOGNIZED you’ll see that a lot of other Dell laptop users are finding that they Dell batteries are dying at the 1 year mark.Dell 1691P Battery, Dell 75UYF Battery, Dell 5081P Battery Dell 6T473 Battery There is a work around that proves that these batteries still have a lot of life left even tho the BIOS says that they are dead. This makes me think that either there is a bug in electronics on the battery that monitors the battery health or Dell intensionally built a 1 year death switch in to the batteries. I’ve recently hit the year and half mark with my Dell laptop and I’m running in to problems with my Laptop AC adapter.Dell 5081P Battery The laptop doesn’t recognize it and the laptop won’t allow it to allow my new battery to charge! If I want be able to change my laptop battery I need to buy another AC adapter from Dell as third party adapters won’t be recognized. A new Dell AC power adapter is very low price but feel like I am being nickel and dimed to death by Dell. It would be one thing if these parts were broken and no longer worked but they still work! They just aren’t being recognized.
This is the very last laptop I buy from Dell and my very well be the very last computer that I buy from them. The next time thing anything isn’t recognized on this laptop I am going to part it out on eBay! Hopefully by parting out my laptop other Dell laptop owners will be able to get a little more life out of their laptop without having to pay Dell to be able to use their own laptop for another year.
Don’t skimp on your battery. If you choose the lowest-cost battery you’ll probably get a battery that degrades quickly, and you’ll end up buying a replacement too soon anyway. So spend the money now to save expense and frustration down the road.
Don’t buy an expired battery. A good indicator of a battery’s performance is how far into its product life it is, whether it’s used or new. If possible, look at the bottom of the battery and find the manufacture date.
We just reviewed a new retail-specific version of Dell’s popular Inspiron 1525 laptop, and found ourselves wondering why this new system’s battery life was so poor compared to its very recent (and largely identical) predecessor. How can two versions of essentially the same laptop have a difference in battery life as big as the 3-hour vs. 2-hour one we found? We looked a little closer and found a potential culprit.
Both $650 laptops (the newer 1525-139B and the older 1525-121B) have six-cell batteries, but that’s not always the most useful number to look at. Thus, our shorter battery life, and one more area where budget-minded PC makers are apparently trying to shave a little cost from their systems. So the lesson here is that there’s now one more bit of fine print you need to read carefully before buying a laptop.

The first types of fisheye lenses to be developed were “circular fisheyes” lenses which took in a 180 hemisphere and projected this as a circle within the film frame. Some circular fisheyes were available in orthographic projection models for scientific applications. These have a 180 vertical angle of view, and the horizontal and diagonal angle of view are also 180. Most circular fisheye lenses cover a smaller image circle than rectilinear lenses, so the corners of the frame will be completely dark.
Full-frame
As fisheye lenses gained popularity in general photography, camera companies began manufacturing fisheye lenses that enlarged the image circle to cover the entire 35 mm film frame, and this is the type of fisheye most commonly used by photographers.
The picture angle produced by these lenses only measures 180 degrees when measured from corner to corner: these have a 180 diagonal angle of view, while the horizontal and vertical angles of view will be smaller; for an equisolid angle-type 15 mm full-frame fisheye, the horizontal FOV will be 147, and the vertical FOV will be 94.
The first full-frame fisheye lens to be mass-produced was a 16 mm lens made by Nikon in the late 1960s. Digital cameras with APS-C sized sensors require a 10.5 mm lens to get the same effect as a 16 mm lens on a camera with full-frame sensor.

Miniature Fisheye Lenses
Miniature fisheye lenses are designed for small format CCD/CMOS imagers commonly used in consumer and security cameras. Popular format sizes are 1/4″ (active area 3.6mmx2.7mm), 1/3″ (active area 4.8mmx3.6mm) and 1/2″ (active area 6.6mmx4.8mm). Depending on the imager active area, the same lens can form a circular image on one imager (e.g. 1/2″), and a full frame on the other (e.g. 1/4″). Sunex makes a series of miniature fisheye lenses for popular imager formats.
Focal length
Sigma currently makes a 4.5mm fisheye lens that captures a 180 degree field of view on a crop body. Sunex also makes a 5.6mm fisheye lens that captures a circular 185 degree field of view on a 1.5x Nikon and 1.6x Canon DSLR cameras.
Nikon produced a 6 mm circular fisheye lens that was initially designed for an expedition to Antarctica. It featured a 220-degree field of view, designed to capture the entire sky and surrounding ground when pointed straight up. This lens is still manufactured by Nikon upon special order, and is used nowadays to produce interactive virtual-reality images such as QuickTime VR and IPIX. Because of its very wide field of view, it is very large and cumbersome – weighing 5.2 kilograms (11 lb) and having a diameter of 236 millimetres (9.3 in). It dwarfs a regular 35 mm SLR camera and has its own tripod mounting point, a feature normally seen in large long-focus or telephoto lenses to reduce strain on the lens mount because the lens is heavier than the camera.
An 8 mm fisheye lens, also made by Nikon, has proven useful for scientific purposes because of its equidistant (equiangular) projection, in which distance along the radius of the circular image is proportional to zenith angle.
Other uses

With appropriate software, the curvilinear images produced by a fisheye lens can be remapped to a conventional rectilinear projection. Although this entails some loss of detail at the edges of the frame, the technique can produce an image with a field of view greater than that of a conventional rectilinear lens. This is particularly useful for creating panoramic images.
Some planetariums use a form of fisheye lens to project a two-dimensional film image of the night sky onto the interior of a dome.
Similarly, the IMAX Dome (previously ‘OMNIMAX’) motion-picture format involves photography through a circular fisheye lens, and projection through the same onto a hemispherical screen.
Scientists and resource managers (e.g., biologists, foresters, and meteorologists) use fisheye lenses for hemispherical photography to calculate plant canopy indices and near-ground solar radiation. Applications include evaluation of forest health, characterization of monarch butterfly winter roosting sites, and management of vineyards.
Photographers and videographers use fisheye lenses so they can get the camera as close as possible for action shots whilst also capturing context, for example in skateboarding to focus on the board and still retain an image of the skater.
The peepholes used in doors generally contain fisheye lenses, so as to give a wide field of view. Security cameras often tend to have such lenses for similar reasons.
The first music video to be shot completely with fisheye lens was for the Beastie Boys song “Shake Your Rump” in 1989.

Mapping function
The mapping of a sideways object leads to a picture position displacement from the image center. The manner of this conversion is the mapping function. The distance of a point from the image center ‘r’ is dependent on the focal length of the optical system ‘f’, and the angle from the optical axis ”.

Gnomonical or perspective: r = ftan(). Works like the pinhole camera. Straight lines remain straight (distortion free). “” has to be smaller than 90. The aperture angle is gaged symmetrically to the optical axis and has to be smaller than 180. Large aperture angles are difficult to design and lead to high prices.
Fisheye lenses can have many different mapping functions:
Linear scaled (equidistant): , where is in radians. Practical for angle measurement e.g., star maps. PanoTools uses this type.
Orthographic: r = fsin(). Looks like an orb with the surroundings lying on < max. 180 aperture angle.
Equal area (equisolid angle): r = 2fsin( / 2). Looks like a mirror image on a ball, best special effect (unsophisticated distances), suitable for area comparison (clouds grade determination). This type is popular but it compresses marginal objects. The prices of these lenses are high, but not extreme.
Stereographic (conform): r = 2ftan( / 2). This mapping would be ideal for photographers because it doesn’t compress marginal objects as much. Samyang is the only manufacturer ever to be making this kind of fisheye lens. This lens is available under different brandnames. This mapping is easily implemented by software.
Other mapping functions (for example Tailored Distortion lenses) are also possible for enhancing the off-axis resolution of fisheye lenses.
All types of fisheye lens bend straight lines. Aperture angles of 180 or more are possible only with large amounts of barrel distortion.

The Brother HL 2140 printer was recognized by by Linux operating
system on the first try. (Ubuntu 10.04) I am very pleased
with all my low-end Brother printers. I operate an Internet
Cafe on Saturday mornings at my church. All of the users
have no problems with black and white printing on Brother laser printers.
The Brother printers aren’t as easy to setup on “Windows” as they are
on “Ubuntu Linux”. The Brother HL2140, a medium speed computer, and
Ubuntu 10.04 with Open Office make for excellent word processing.
Noisy
This printer really worked fine for the first few months. Recently it is making very loud squeaking sounds..like an amplified hamster. It has come to be so annoying that I am
putting this in a closet for a backup printer and getting something tolerable. I tried changing the
print toner and cleaning it as per instructions, but it actually got louder.
Good, solid, no-frills printer for a good price.
This is the 2nd printer we have had from Brother – they never gave us any trouble at all. The only reason we replaced the old one is that the drum wore out and it was cheaper to replace the whole printer.
The toner is not cheap, but you can get 2,600 + pages out of the larger size toner for about $45.00.
Great little printer with a few drawbacks
I bought this printer a few months ago to replace the HP 1000 that HP stoppled supporting. I’ve had it with HP for that reason. This is a great little printer with all the positive attributes that are checked here. However, there are a few cons:
1. There is no print preview in the software for this printer. If you want to do a print preview you have to do it in the word processing software, which is a pain and which does not allow me to check to see that I’ve actually checked the correct pages in the printer driver software before I commit by pressing “print.” This shortcoming has cost me about 50 pages of wasted output so far.
2. Do NOT believe the “out of ink” report for the included cartridge or future ones. Enter something like “Brother HL-2140 ink cartridge fix” in Google and watch the videos on how to bypass that “out of ink” feature. You’ll get many, many more pages out of a cartridge if you do that.
Otherwise, great little printer.

How to Choose Binoculars For Astronomy
When buying binoculars for astronomy one of the main considerations is the light gathering capability of the binoculars you are looking to buy and therefore the size of the objective lens is extremely important.
Before you start check out the range of binoculars for astronomy that are currently on the market you need to consider the distance you are looking to cover and what level of detail you are hoping to see. If you can imagine that a telescope can provide you with a significantly larger aperature (objective lens) and a wide range of magnification abilities it’s understandable that for viewing over longer distances, and to see the finer details, a telescope is often a better option. However that said binoculars can prove useful, even for the serious astronomer, and are an inexpensive way to get started.
The real pro’s of using binoculars for astronomy is the minimal set up time, the relatively low cost, portability and the fact that there isn’t an endless list of accessories that you need to buy.
Manufacturers generally indicate whether or not their binos are suitable binoculars for astronomy but as a general guide you want to be looking for giant binoculars or binoculars with an objective lens that is 50mm or greater. 10×50′s are often a popular choice for astronomy as they are reasonably comfortable to hold yet powerful enough for the basic astronomers needs.
Some manufacturers do make smaller binoculars for astronomy such as the Pentax PCF 8×40 or the higher quality Pentax DCF SP 8×43 and Olympus rate their EXPS I 8×42′s as excellent astronomy binoculars. As a general rule, and particularly relating to the smaller binos, if the objective lens is 5 times or more than the magnification you can use them for astronomy.
If you are looking for a real meaty beast then the Celestron Skymaster series ranges from 15 x 70 up to 25 x 100 (which offers the power of a small telescope) and Nikon do the 10 x 70IF SP which is considerably more expensive (around £1200 versus up to £400 for a Skymaster) but you are paying for the quality of the lenses and the superior optical design (one of the leaders in it’s class). The bigger you go when you are looking for binoculars for astronomy the greater the power and light gathering abilities so if you opt for a 25 x 100 (25x magnification, 100mm objective lens) you will be able to see further and view objects in greater detail than with a 7 x 35 or a 10 x 50 (for example).
Binoculars for Astronomy, quick check list:
• Fully multi-coated lenses are a must
• Waterproof binoculars are generally best if you want to prevent fogging and view in all weather conditions.
• The best astronomy binoculars come with Bak-4 Porro prisms (Bak-4 glass is high quality glass and porro prisms generally provide greater light transmission and a sharper image than their roof prism counterparts)
• Always check a binoculars suitability for astronomy
• Remember the more powerful the better and if you want a performance similar to a small telescope buy a binocular with the largest possible objective lens.
• For larger binoculars make sure you check tripod / mounting requirements.
• Quality optics is important and no more so than for astronomy. If you can afford high quality binoculars they are well worth paying for.

This children’s book series originated in France in 1931 and has been a huge success through the years. Babar is an elephant who ventures away from the jungle when his mother was killed by a Hunter. Theodor Geisel (aka Dr. Seuss) / Dr. Seuss Books
Theodor Geisel started out as a political cartoonist, but soon found his passion in writing and illustrating children’s books. Starting in the early 1950′s, he wrote and illustrated “And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street”. Children will learn that “Snow White”, “Cinderella” and “Sleeping Beauty” were all adapted by Walt Disney, but were originally Brothers Grimm fairy tales. The complete collection includes over 200 tales and all are written to stimulate children’s imaginations and transport them to another time and place. Many of the tales can be found on DVD also.
