DCP-7040 Scanning Error?
I have a DCP-7040 Brother Printer installed into XP Pro SP3. It can print and photocopy, but then, if it was to scan to image, the scanner would say “Connecting to computer” then wait for 5 minutes, then it will go to sleep, it wont connect… HELP!
Does anyone know why, what and how I could possibly fix this problem? Thanks!
Re-install the scanner software in this fashion.
Remove the USB cable from the scanner and power it on. Now re-install and half way, re-connect the USB Cable when it asks you ONLY.
Let it finish and REBOOT the computer.
It will find the new hardware and it will work. Open the scanning software that was just installed and go inthe FILE menu and select SCAN.

Nothing can provoke more panic and cause more stress than realizing that the date of an awards ceremony has arrived and the trophies and awards haven’t. Or worse, the trophies and awards arrived all right, but something is wrong with one or more of them.
There are ways to prevent either of these catastrophes (because to the person who was responsible for putting the whole thing together, that’s exactly what they are.) Following the tips below will ensure that trophies and awards are where they need to be when they need to be in the condition they need to be.
First, when making the initial order, make sure that all the information concerning the types of trophies and awards, what is to be engraved on them and the purpose for which they are being used is clearly communicated to the provider. If at all possible, this information should be typed, but if it must be handwritten, it should be printed clearly and neatly.
Don’t be afraid to provide a lot of guidance and instructions with the order. Doing so will actually make you concentrate on the information you are sending, and the provider will appreciate it, too. Even if you find yourself thinking, The provider should know this. After all, he’s in the business of selling trophies and awards, go ahead and be as explicit as you want to be.
After you have sent the initial order, take the initiative and call the provider a few days after you think he has received the order. Even if the order was sent via e-mail or fax, where receipt should have been almost instantaneous, go ahead and give it a couple of days, then call or send another e-mail or fax.
In this communication, ask directly if there are any questions about any part of the order. At this time, you may want to review some of the information, especially concerning the engraving. Using your copy of the information that you sent the provider, re-submit the information, or if you are speaking by phone, read it to the provider. It never hurts to double-check.
Finally, arrange for the trophies and awards to be sent to you at least a week in advance of the event itself. This will give you time to unpack and examine each piece for errors or oversights. If any are found, they can probably be corrected in plenty of time before the actual event.

What can be done to help a 7 year old overweight little girl?
There is a 7 year old little girl in my life who is very heavy for her age (83 pounds) and average height. She currently fits into a girls size 16 pants (which are quite snug) but we have to chop about a foot of length off and hem the pants. Of course, the sleeves on the shirts are too long. I believe the little darling needs to be checked for a thyroid problem, but her mother (my GF) wishes to see if diet and exercise will work first. I would agree with her if our current work schdules would allow us to spend more time with the child, who also has a 5 year old little brother who we nearly have to bribe him to get him to eat. We have instructed the daycare/schools not to give the little girl ANY second portions of ANYTHING, however, when I pick her up she’s always nibbling on animal crackers or has a ziplock bad full of Halloween type candy. She is aware that she has a weight problem and doesn’t seem to be bothered by it much, but she is a very well mannered child.

If you want a colour all-in-one laser with all the current extras, Brother will offer you its MFC-9840CDW. This machine is targeted at small workgroups, and so the specs are solid and, as well as providing colour print, it is able to place it upon each side of the paper within a pass, handle upto 300 fax speed dials as well as copy multipage documents of up to 50 pages, all wirelessly.

ScandAll Pro Won’t Uninstall?
I have a fujitsu 5120C scanner running on Vista SP1 Enterprise Edition. I need to uninstall the ScandAll Pro v1.6 software so that I can load a newer scanner. (when I try to install the software without uninstalling this it says another version of scanner software is running, uninstall that version and try again). I go to the Programs/Features and then find the Scandall Pro software, click on it, and then click “uninstall”, and it immediately gives me the following error message: “Error reading setup initialization file.” And it won’t uninstall.
Does anybody have any suggestions for how to get this file uninstalled? I looked for an uninstaller.exe file in the program files for this software but none exists.

SHould I get a Pentax pair of binoculars or a Nikon pair?
I was looking for binoculars, and I found two pairs in my budget range (around $125), the Nikon Binoculars Action Extreme 8×40 for $121, and the Pentax Binoculars PCF WP II 8X40 for $149, so which one is better?
The Nikon has a wider field of view than the Pentax, but the Pentax has a longer eye relief. If you wear glasses, the Pentax will do better for you. Otherwise the Nikon would seem to be the winner because of the price.
My concern is that neither of these have Fully Multi Coated lenses. The Nikon is only Multi Coated, the Pentax has no info on coating type. Fully Multi Coated (FMC) lenses will give you the brightest images.
