Born in Baskinta, (Metn, Mount-Lebanon, Lebanon) on June 27, 1956. Christian Maronite. Son of Antoine Abou Nader & Claude Pierre Gemayel. Married to Sandra Ghosn. Four children: Anthony, Georges, Maria & Paul. Completely fluent in English, French & Arabic.
After attending school at Collge Notre-Dame de Jamhour and Collge Mont La Salle, he joined the American University of Beirut. Because of the war, he continued his medical studies at the Universit Saint-Joseph from which he graduated as a doctor in 1982.
Kataeb Social Democratic Party activist
He joined the Kataeb Social Democratic Party (led by his grandfather Sheikh Pierre Gemayel) in 1974. He was an active member of both the paramilitary and the students organization of the party. At Dekwaneh, he participated in his first fight against the Palestinian organizations.
Lebanese Forces Resistance fighter & commander
When war started, he was part of the elite troop, the G (or ejin), inside of the Kataeb regular forces. When the Kataeb regular forces, the oumour (igers) from the National Liberal Party, the uardians of the Cedars from the National Lebanese Movement & l-Tanzim (he Organization) from the Lebanese Resistance Movement united in the ebanese Forces (LF), he became the head of the operations (called hird Bureau) of the LF. He was seriously injured in 1975, 1976, 1983 and 1986. For the latter, he survived to an assassination attempt and was severely wounded.
In 1982, Bachir Gemayel, commander in chief of the LF was elected as Lebanese Republic president. So, Fady Frem became commander in chief and Dr Fouad Abou Nader, chief of staff of the LF. In 1984, he was elected as commander in chief of the LF. He was involved in almost all the battles with the Resistance against the Palestinian organizations & the Syrian army. He became famous for his tenacious nerves, physical courage, exceptional organization and planning skills. For his fellow fighters he was a living legend: no battle was won without him. He was the initiator & creator of most of the LF elite troops.
After his election to the presidency, Bachir Gemayel said: f I had to deliver a Resistance medal of honour, I would have certainly given it to the greatest fighter of our Resistance, Fouad Abou Nader.
The reject of the fratricide struggles for power
From 1985, an era of ntifada (revolts) shook the ree regions and diverted the Cause of its strategic objectives in turning into a struggle for power. Dr Fouad Abou Nader refused the bloody logic: he did not put down the intifada led by Elie Hobeika & Dr Samir Geagea against him: hen I offer my condolences to the family of a martyr as head of the LF I feel bad even if their son was sacrificed for the noblest of causes. What do you want me to say tomorrow to all these mothers? How to explain the martyrdom of their children? Just to remain in my position as head of the LF? In 1986, he refused the tripartite agreement signed in Damascus by Elie Hobeika and became responsible for the Kataeb regional. Then, in 1989, he refused the Taef agreement signed by Dr Georges Saade, the head of the Kataeb Social Democratic Party and approved by Dr Samir Geagea. He supported Michel Aoun liberation war against the Syrian army but rejected the fratricide war between the Lebanese Army soldiers loyal to General Aoun and Geagea militia. He participated to the mass demonstrations in Baabda (where is located the presidential palace) against Taef agreement and Syrian army invasion. The internal struggles inside of the LF and the fratricide war between Aoun soldiers and Geagea militiamen were fatal: it was real self-destruction.
From the pacific Resistance to the Cedar Revolution
During Syrian occupation, he helped the student Resistance, participated to their main demonstrations and was part of the ataeb Opposition led by Dr Elie Karame, former head of the Kataeb Social Democratic Party, against the pro-Syrian direction of the party led by Dr Georges Saade then Mounir Hajj and Karim Pakradouni. After Rafic Hariri assassination, he participated to the mass demonstrations in Beirut downtown for the departure of the Syrian army.
After Syrian withdrawal, he restarted his public activities in launching, with his former companions, the ebanese Forces veterans group. He decided to return to the Kataeb Social Democratic Party in the hope of initiating the necessary changes to avoid the repetition of the mistakes of the past. These necessary changes were: making the party more democratic to avoid fratricidal struggles for power and redefining the Cause. Quickly, he clashed with the direction of the party who refused any change about the feudal, hereditary and therefore anti-democratic structures.
General coordinator of the Liberty Front
Consequently, he decided with his companions who come from the Kataeb Social Democratic Party but also from other parties and movements to launch the iberty Front on April 2007. The Liberty Front is a Lebanese political movement, social-democratic & independent, heir of the ront for Freedom & Man founded in 1975 by Dr. Charles Malik who became the ebanese Front and the political offspring of the Resistance of the Front parties & movements fighters who cooperated together in the ebanese Forces Command Council since 1976 before uniting their guns in 1980 in the ebanese Forces under the leadership of President Bachir Gemayel and fought against the Palestinian organizations & the Syrian army between 1975 and 1986.

The Liberty Front calls for the Christian unity. It rejects the division of the Christians who are become followers of Muslims (unni Christians and hiite Christians) and a pawn of foreign powers (Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Iran, Syria, etc.) and thinks the Christians should play a rapprochement role (a bridge) among the Muslims instead of quarreling at the expense of the Sunni and Shiite row. As slogan, the Front uses the quote of Dr Charles Malik: he unity of Lebanon from the unity of the Christians. In October 2007, he was elected as general coordinator of the movement for one year. In August 2008, he announced his candidature for one of the four maronite seats in North-Metn (Mount-Lebanon) for the next elections (spring 2009). In October 2008, he was re-elected as general coordinator of the Liberty Front.
The Liberty Front principles and project
The Front believes in the principles of democracy and alternation underlying the movement. It also believes in the dialog that should not lead to a new compromise to cope with the paralysis (following the departure of the Syrians) of the political formula of Taef agreement, but to a peaceful and definitive solution organizing consensual democracy respecting the cultural plurality of the Lebanese people and basing on Universal Declaration of Human Rights. And, it believes in a real reconciliation through a National Congress for forgiveness, reconciliation and unity to put a definitive end to the war, avoid the repetition of the same mistakes & tragedies and allow the return of displaced and exiled people.
The main points of the Liberty Front project for the establishment of a strong State of law and competences are: -uninominal law and two rounds for the legislative elections with the vote of the Lebanese abroad; -regionalism as State organization; -positive neutrality of Lebanon with an international guarantee; -participation of the civil society in the democratic process and at the local level and then, the development of an engaged citizenship; -social contract assuring dignity, role for women and the youth, productive society based on agriculture and industry and developing historical, cultural and religious tourism and banking system based on secret but no more on the debt of the State but on investment banking under supervision to avoid uncontrolled crisis; -secularization of the State step by step; -rejecting the Palestinian implantation and disarming the Palestinians inside and outside of their camps; -restructuration of the armed forces under a law on internal security and national defence to be able to fight terrorism, protect all citizens, avoid self defence and defend the entire territory; -and, replacement of the Treaty of Brotherhood with Syria who is hegemonic and uneven for Lebanon by specific and balanced relations between the two sovereign states with a diplomatic representation exchange, the liberation of the Lebanese detainees in Syrian jails and the demarcation of the borders.
The hard mission of a peaceful leader: sending a real state to the youth of all sects
Dr. Fouad Abou Nader thinks that friendly relations with both Syria and Israel will maybe not start in the near future ut definitely in the end we have to find a resolution. Why can we achieve peace between our countries? Our peace has to be fair between the Israelis and us and between Syria and us as well.
He is 100% for keeping this coexistence between Christians and Muslims in Lebanon, but the political formula of how to implement it must be changed. We would like to find a final solution for the problems of the country. Otherwise we are going to stay in this situation. We cannot go on like this for all of our lives. We have to try a stable solution for the sake of our kids. We don’t want our kids to continue the war we have fought. We want to find a final solution. Rule number one is that we have to stop lying to each other. Number two, we have to start thinking Lebanese only. And, rule number three, we need to sit together and find a solution – without a hidden agenda from either side. Everyone in Lebanon, Christians, Sunnis, Shiites, Druze, Alawi, Jews, etc. can live free with dignity and enjoy security, equality and freedom.
About the Memorandum of Understanding between Aoun Free Patriotic Movement & Hezbollah, his position is: t’s a positive step although I don’t agree with the objectives of Hezbollah and its foreign agenda. As efence strategy option, he is for the creation of a ational guard, an armed force organised regionally, in the framework of the regionalism he is calling for, alongside the Lebanese army and Interior Security Forces (I.S.F.) and integrating Hezbollah Resistance weapons and fighters but also other and new volunteers from all the regions and from all the sects.
Other activities
He is chairman of Tanit Paramedic & Tanit Medical Engineering. Tanit was established in 1987. It is a trading and distributing company specialized in the medical field. It has developed an extensive network of connections in many parts of the world such as Nigeria. Tanit represents several international manufacturers of medical equipment and supplies and specialized consultant companies in the medical field.

We have confidence in Lebanon armed forces to protect our country and our children. Nevertheless, armed institutions need a strong state to be strong. Everyone should be able to live frees and safes in Lebanon.

Choosing The Right Digital Camera

A DSLR is also the only type of camera that lets you frame shots using a through-the-lens optical viewfinder, meaning that what you’ll see through the eyepiece is a true-to-life representation of your shot.
Though the prospect of using a DSLR can be intimidating for novice users, most modern models are outfitted with point-and-shoot-like features and LCD-based viewfinders to make the migration easier. Beyond user-friendly auto-exposure and scene modes, you also get room to grow as a photographer due to a DSLR’s full range of manual controls.
The only major drawback to a DSLR is its size, which makes it a tough camera to bring anywhere you go. Price is also a major consideration, even after you spend an initial $700 to several-thousand dollars on the camera alone. Additional lenses are a must when it comes to unleashing the full power of your DSLR, and they usually cost several hundred dollars a pop. If you’re interested in shooting video, make sure your DSLR supports it; these cameras capture stunning HD video, but only the newest DSLRs are video-capable.
Compact Interchangeable-Lens Camera (Micro Four-Thirds, Sony NEX, Samsung NX)
Strengths: More compact than a DSLR; Excellent photo and video quality; No shutter lag; Versatile interchangeable lenses; Manual controls for exposure and focus.
Weaknesses: No through-the-lens optical viewfinder; Can be expensive; Fewer lenses available than for DSLRs; Still a bit bulky for everyday use.
If you can live without an optical viewfinder, these interchangeable-lens cameras offer most of what a DSLR offers in a more-compact body: a large sensor, fast mechanical shutter, swappable lenses, noticeably better image and video quality that your average point-and-shoot, and manual controls.
The lack of an optical viewfinder is a byproduct of these cameras’ smaller size: by eliminating the somewhat large mirror box that lets you frame your shot through the lens, manufacturers were able to make these interchangeable-lens cameras more compact.
One of the main problems is deciding which of the emerging compact interchangeable-lens formats to buy into, because like DSLR lens mounts, they’re incompatible with other : Panasonic and Olympus both use the Micro Four-Thirds System lens mount, Samsung’s NX10 uses its own NX lens mount, Sony’s NEX series uses the new E-Mount system, and other companies are bound to release their own interchangeable-lens compacts. Because this is a newer kind of camera, there aren’t as many lens options to choose from, either. Adapters are available that let you use full-size DSLR lenses with these cameras, but they often cost a hundred dollars or more.
Megazoom (Fixed-Lens High-Zoom Cameras)

Megazooms don’t give you the same lens-swapping versatility of a DSLR or compact interchangeable-lens camera, but they are the most-versatile fixed-lens cameras available. They’re called “megazooms” because they offer a whopping 20x to 30x optical zoom lens, usually serving up impressive wide-angle shots and telephoto reach.
Most megazooms also offer DSLR-like manual controls for aperture and shutter, as well as good image stabilization to help steady full-zoom shots. Because of the versatility of their lenses, they’re good cameras for landscape photography (they can capture both wide-angle vistas and faraway details), sports photography (you can sit in the crowd and still get tight shots of in-game action), and animal photography (because you really shouldn’t get too close to that bear).
Although a megazoom camera is smaller than a DSLR, it’s about the same size as some interchangeable-lens compact cameras, and it won’t slip into a pocket or purse. You’ll probably need a backpack or camera bag to tote it along with you.
Pocket Megazoom (Compact High-Zoom Cameras)
Strengths: Very high optical zoom range for a pocketable camera; Portable but versatile; Normally have excellent image stabilization; Many of them have manual controls.
Weaknesses: Some are a bit bulky; More expensive than basic point-and-shoot cameras; Some lack manual controls.
If you’re attracted by the versatile fixed lens of a megazoom camera but want something a bit more portable, a pocket megazoom is your best option. These compact cameras offer optical zoom ranges from about 10x to 15x, and although they’re definitely more compact than a full-size megazoom or DSLR, some of them aren’t quite small enough to slip in a pants pocket. A jacket pocket or purse should be big enough, however.
Although many pocket megazoom cameras have manual controls such as aperture and shutter priority, not all of them do, so be sure to check the specs if you’d like those features. These cameras normally have very good optical image stabilization to bolster their high-zoom lenses.
Advanced Point-and-Shoot (Compact Camera With Manual Controls)
Strengths: Better image quality than most fixed-lens cameras; Manual controls over shutter speed and aperture settings; Good secondary cameras for DSLR owners; Good learning tool for novice shooters.
Weaknesses: More expensive than a basic point-and-shoot; Can be more complicated to use than a basic point-and-shoot; Smaller optical zoom range.

Quite a few waterproof, freezeproof, drop-proof, and dustproof cameras are available, and they’re great for taking underwater shots of fish, lugging to the beach, or taking on a snowboarding trip.
Due to their unique looks and sometimes-barren feature sets, these cameras aren’t the first choice for everyday on-the-go use. Image quality can be a mixed bag, as well: they’re rugged, but they usually don’t have the best optics or biggest sensors. But they’re durable, and that’s sometimes a more important trait to have.

Fujitsu Lifebook T730 laptop review
The Lifebook T730 is the newest product that aims to mash together the tablet and laptop computer formats. While Fujitsu’s attempt is certainly a competent device, there are some key areas where it could be improved.
The device comes preloaded with Windows 7 Professional, and features a dual-core Intel Core i3-350M processor running at 2.27GHz, with 2GB of RAM and a 320GB hard drive, making it well-placed to cover all basic jobs with ease.
Design
The T730 looked rather bland on first review, and is significantly larger than the majority of laptop computer on the market.
It gives the impression of being designed for people who spend long time out of the office, with a rugged look and feel and a built-in ShockSensor to protect the hard drive in case it is dropped.
At 1.8Kg, the Lifebook is reasonably heavy, and carrying it around for any prolonged period quickly becomes tiring.
Fujitsu seems to have cut hardware costs to keep the price down. The Qwerty keyboard is one of the main casualties, with keys that look squeezed onto the body. This makes typing a rather uncomfortable feel.
Unluckily, the 12.1in screen is also substandard. It has a native resolution of 1,200 x 800 pixels, but the display is visibly grainy, which made viewing documents and videos for any length of time uncomfortable.
The trackpad is particularly fiddly and is another area that Fujitsu should improve for future models.
Interface
The ability to rotate the screen 180 degrees in either direction is impressive, and when in laptop computer mode it locks firmly in place.
Even so, when we manoeuvred the screen into tablet mode, the T730 was occasionally unable to detect the correct orientation, meaning it had to be changed manually. It’s a minor grumble, but annoying all the same.
The laptop computer’s touch capabilities were amazingly fine. The display was receptive to touch using fingers or the digital stylus, which is put away in the bottom right hand corner of the frame once not in use.
Navigating menus within Windows was fast and easy, and during testing the trackpad was bypassed in favour of the touch screen on multiple affairs.
A Committed touch menu is available, allowing quick access to Power Options, Control Panel and the Input Method options. This menu is open to customisation.
Text can be entered using three methods: standard keyboard, digital pen or touch-screen keyboard. When entering small amounts of text, the digital pen was our favoured method out of the three. Even though it was a little slower than using the physical Qwerty, it was more comfortable and amazingly precise.
Connectivity
The Lifebook went with an array of connectivity features including 3 USB 2.0 ports, VGA, Ethernet and HDMI. It also has full wireless connectivity through 3G/UMTS with GPS, wireless LAN and Bluetooth. A multi card reader capable of reading a SD/SDHC/SDXC/MS and MSPro storage card was present as well.
Fujitsu includes a standard port, allowing users to add a second battery or disc drive on the move. It can also house a Blu-ray or DVD combo drive.
The T730 is heavy on security features, making it an magnetic purchase for business users. The device incorporates biometric fingermark log-on, secure data encryption via an optional Trusted Platform Module, and SmartCard support.
An Advanced stealing Protection service is also on offer, allowing a lost or slipped Lifebook to be remotely locked, passed over and recovered using GPS tracking.
As with most laptop computers, a 90-day internet security trial was bundled, in this case Norton Internet Security.
Battery Life
Fujitsu supplied one battery, which it claimed would last up to seven hours. In our tests, the battery lasted five hours and 35 minutes when we used the Battery Eater Pro benchmark in the low-intensity Reader mode.
Standard mode showed a battery life of one hour and 35 minutes, so users can expect somewhere between these figures when on the move.
If you use this FUJITSU LifeBook T730 battery several years, you need to buy high quality but cheap laptop batteries to replace it. This replacement FUJITSU LifeBook T730 battery lasts three hours or more.
At £1,100, the T730 is expensive, especially considering the various problems we encountered. Business users looking for an ultraportable laptop computer might be better off opting for one of the larger netbooks available, and save a fair bit of money in the process.
