Does anyone have a suggestion for a replacement laminator to the Brother LX-900?
Brother – The Brother LX-900 has discontinued their cool laminator. Does anyone have a suggestion to replace this model? I really like this model and roll laminators with cool sealing. So if anyone out there has knowledge of the Brother LX-900 and could recommend something similar I would be grateful.

I work from home & to be more mobile in my business, I’ve replaced my desktop with a laptop. On the desktop I had a USB inkjet printer & a LPT dot matrix printer for printing receipts. Is there a conversion cable that will allow me to hook up the dot matrix printer to the laptop?
This may be an instance where a LPT to USB converter could work for you, because you need it for a printer. Many times parallel ports are strictly required. These converter cables can be easily located using google.

Got reflectors, but they are making my subjects very dark!?
Sometimes when I use my reflectors, my models turn very dark on the camera(Pentax K10, almost always on automatic). This occurs more often when my models have very tan skin. Along with that, it USUALLY only happens when I zoom in! Am I doing something wrong with the angle or anything like that? Or is it perhaps just a flaw with my camera?

Sigma 100 – 300 f4 or 50 – 500 f5-6.3?
I have a Pentax K10D and am considering one of the above lenses for a trip to Africa next year and also for wildlife work in the UK, while the 50-500 would probably be suitable for the bright conditions of Africa will it still work well in the greyer Britain? Or am I better off with a shorter f4 ??
IMO you’ll be better of with the 100-300 with its constant f-4 aperture. Buy a good quality 2X (Sigma probably offers one for this lens) teleconverter for use in Africa. Just remember that it not only doubles the focal length (your 100-300 becomes a 200-600) it also doubles the f-stop so your f4 lens performs like it would at f8. A good tripod should be included in your kit. Having a monopod would also be a good idea for those times when the tripod isn’t practical to use.
You should also have a UV filter mounted on every lens you plan to take. You’ll also want a good quality polarizer (Hoya, B+W, Tiffen). Buy the polarizer to fit your biggest lens (perhaps 72mm) and then buy “step up rings” so you can use it on all your lenses. In other words, if you have a lens with a 55mm diameter filter ring and one with 58mm diameter and the aforementioned 72mm, you’d need 2 step up rings: one from 55 to 72 and one from 58 to 72.

As a present for my mom i want to go to a professinal and have them take a picture of my brothers and me and have it framed. Do you know how much it will cost
The photography can cost from just a dozen dollars or so to a few hundred, however much you care to spend. But you should be able to get a professional portrait from a real privately owned studio for a hundred or so and end up with a nice 8×10 or 11×14.
The framing can be expensive if done professionally.
Look for portrait studios offering holiday specials and some even offer the frames with the portrait.

APS-C. Advice on lenses ?
i’ve been using a 50mm lens on my film camera (pentax ME super) and have been wanting to get the same focal length for my canon 30d.
After looking at the sigma 50mm f/1.4 and the canon equiv. i came across a review saying how cameras with aps-c sensors such as my 30d will not give me the same angle of view as experienced with my 50mm lens on my film camera.?
Is this true? if so, what focal length would i need to replicate my experience with film camera?
is there a lens that you would advice me getting for a walk-about ‘normal’ lens?
currently looking at the canon 35mm f2 and the 28mm f1.8, but reviews don’t seem to be so good.

He has been a Master Gardener almost 20 years. He has every garden book ever written and every garden tool ever made. The gift must be related to gardening because anything else won’t be noticed.
