Sergers and Lower Looper Experts???
I just received a new Brothers Serger 1034D. I went through the tutorials last night and managed to learn how to thread it. It worked and all was great, then, in order to practice a 3-thread stitch, I removed the left needle. When I went back to the 4 threads, the Lower Looper thread keeps breaking. It snaps within ½ inch of chaining off. I went over and over the threading and needle positions (which one seems slightly lower than the other), but the Lower Looper just keeps breaking. How can I figure this out, does Brother’s customer service answer these questions?
I’m not sure about the 1034 D but my 929 D is really tempermental about threading. I have had to unthread everything and redo it all to get it to stop breaking the lower looper threads.
You might also check if your thread is going through the tension points correctly. Sometimes that’s a problem on mine.
