What brand is the twin needle that comes with the Brother Computerized 110-Stitch Function Sewing Machine?
Sewing Machine Model: Brother Computerized 110-Stitch Function Sewing Machine
I bought it online from Costco.com: http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11222787
The twin needle that came with the sewing machine (in an orange paper envelope) broke when I was using it to hem some pants. The envelope does not say the size of the needle (distance between the needles and so forth) and the brand is in Japanese. I can only read some of the characters (the Katakana ones) and it reads “arumi [something in Kanji here].” Does anyone know what brand it is and where I can buy it? Or can anyone tell me which twin needle (size and brand) to buy that would replace the broken one?
You can buy any of the popular brands, Schmetz being the most readily available.
How wide will depend on the opening in the presser foot and throat plate beneith the presser foot.
The widest zig-zag setting for the machine will be the clue you need to determine how large the opening is.
Buy the needle for jeans/denim. 4,0/100 on the package indicates the width (about 1/4″) and needle size (16 US).
Use a straight stitch and always hand walk the handwheel to be sure the needles clear the foot and plate below.
