Brother CS6000i sewing machine – My Review

Brother lunched an easy to use full of features sewing machine by the name of CS6000i. The Brother CS6000i sewing machine is an advanced computerized free arm sewing machine which even has an lcd display.

This machine has 60 stitches with many functions. It has stitches for mending and garment construction, decorative stitches, heirloom stitches and quilting stitches. The CS6000i also has a one step automatic buttonholer with 7 styles of auto-size buttonholes built-in. It also has built-in super-wide 7mm zigzag and decorative stitches.

The Box included accessories for zipper insertion, darning, twin needle stitching, quilting, as well as an oversized accessory table to increase your sewing area for large projects and quilting.

These are all the included features and accessories:

  • buttonhole foot
  • overcasting foot
  • monogramming foot
  • zipper foot
  • zigzag foot
  • blind stitch foot
  • button sewing foot
  • 4 bobbins
  • 4 needles
  • twin needle
  • cleaning brush
  • screwdriver
  • seam ripper
  • extra spool pin
  • foot control
  • operation manual
  • quick reference guide

The list of reasons for you to buy the Brother CS6000i sewing machine are:

1.       Light-weight and easy to carry around

2.       Comes with a hard cover included

3.       Needles included are German-made and of great quality

4.       Comes with all the accessories you need for quilting, etc.

5.       Incredibly easy to set up, thread (there’s actually a drawing of how the thread is supposed to go around the machine, all you have to do is follow it, really dummy-proof!), change accessories, etc; easy to operate in general.

6.       Really nice and large selection of different stiches, about 60 of them.

7.       Has all the features an advanced user needs (the only thing it doesn’t do is embroidery). I don’t believe I will need another machine until this one breaks.

In conclusion, this machine represents the most incredible value-for-money on the market today. It is very, very easy to use, and the manual is exceptionally helpful. It comes with every foot and accessory you could ever possibly need. In fact, there is nothing more you can buy for it. Compare that to the other sewing machine manufacturers, which give you only the most basic feet and then you, must purchase everything else separately. If you have been hankering for the convenience of fully computerized sewing, automatic needle threading, push-button sewing, and lots of fun stitches, don’t hesitate. I highly recommend this machine.

About the Author

Hello my name is Joelle Prater. Some time ago I asked my child to do an internet search for a cheap and easy to use sewing machine, the search ended in theBrother CS6000I so I want to share my review of the product with all of you.

Sewing Machines — Can a complete idiot learn how to use one?

for years, i’ve been making new, eclectic/funky fashions from vintage clothing. things like altering hems, removing sleeves and collars from one item and attaching them to another, etc. since i have zero skills, i’ve always used pins, ties, irons, glue, tape, staples (lol, seriously), etc.

i have *no clue* how to use a sewing machine for anything other than making a straight line. am i kidding myself here, or is there a decent chance that i could figure out how to do this on my own? how did you learn?

i was thinking of buying this one:

thanks for any advice you can offer.

I don’t think you’re a complete idiot at all… you’ve managed to figure out a lot of mechanical stuff already!

Most sewing is just straight lines anyway, but sometimes a zigzag line works better or you might need to stretch the fabric as you sew (for t-shirts and other knits) or you’ll need to “ease” the stitching into a curved area like an armhole, etc.

I definitely suggest too that you join Craftster.org (free) and check out some of their sewing related boards and sub-boards. You can get tutorials, lots of inspiration, ask question or just discuss making “funky” clothing, and all kinds of other things, and the members there are mostly young women. In fact, some of them making clothing or “sew” in the same ways you do (by hand, or using other helpers).

Here’s Craftster’s main page for all their craft “Forums”…check out at least the boards listed below:

…Clothing (especially perhaps the “Reconstructed” Clothing sub-boards)
…Sewing in General (sewing basics and sewing machines)
…Bags, Purses, etc

…Toys, Dolls, Playthings
