Brother Mfc-9440Cn – Color Faxing, Copying, And Printing
Way back in 2007, C|net gave their editor’s choice award to the Brother MFC-9440CN multifunction center. This powerful color laser all in one unit is so loaded full of top of the line features, such as color faxing and a USB direct interface, as well as an entire line of professional grade specifications, it isn’t hard to see why this printer is award winning.
One of the weirder features of this printer that is fairly rare to see in a brother MFC is that the print speed doesn’t match the copy speed. While printing is possible at a swift 21 pages per minute, copies lag behind slightly, clocking in at only 17 pages per minute. Why they didn’t juice up the scanning and automatic document feeding used for copying to match the print ppm is a mystery, but 17 copies per minutes should still suffice for most small businesses.
Color laser technology is ideal for the business that requires photographic brochures and attractive graphics, or simply prefers to see their chart and graph form data in a more eye catching way than grey scale laser printers can deliver. The Brother MFC-9440CN makes color laser printing, copying, and faxing possible thanks to 4 toner cartridges that output a high yield of total color pages, as well as black and white. If your small office really wants to make impressionable hard presentations, color laser printing is the optimal choice.
A 250 sheet paper capacity will help move things along, and an optional second 250 sheet tray will help even more if your output demands are high, bringing the total paper input capacity to a possible 550 sheets when including the versatile 50 sheet multi purpose tray. The MPT allows you to truly take full advantage of the quality color output technology of the MFC-9440CN, freeing you from the restriction of printing only to standard sized sheets of paper, and allowing you to print such attractive media as custom color company letterhead, and then send them off in a cool, color splashed envelope.
If your destination party also happens to have a color fax machine on hand, why bother with the envelope? Color faxing is made possible by the 33.6K built in fax modem that can send attractive, full color documents through the phone line at a speedy 2 seconds per page. And, if you happen to know 366 destination parties who also have color fax technology, the MFC-9440CN lets you send a fax to all of them at once thanks to the broadcasting feature.
Color copies are possible, independent of a PC, thanks to stand alone copy capabilities so, if the network’s down, you can still recreate your important hard copies if necessary. Though both the footprint of this unit and the price tag are significantly higher than that of a black and white model with similar capabilities, the Brother MFC-9440CN should not be ruled out prematurely without considering the benefits of having a color laser around the office. If dazzling, professional looking document and graphic output could serve as an asset to your business, give this printer a chance.
