Canon Imageclass D1150 – Mfc With Super G3
Unlike the base model in Canon’s D1100 series, the imageCLASS D1120, the Canon ImageClass D1150 contains a Super G3 33.6 kbps fax modem, built in, elevating its status from a three in one unit to four in one. Faxing, copying, printing, and scanning are all made simple thanks to the comprehensive, dedicated controls and raw power of this small to medium office level unit.
Even though the Canon ImageClass D1150 comes in a compact size considering its power and paper storage space, it includes a full, legal sized document glass that allows for large scale scanning and copying. This also allows for single color scans of thicker media than standard paper, such as a magazine, though copying and printing are strictly black and white only, as this is a monochrome laser.
If more than one scan needs to be made at a time, the 50 sheet automatic document feeder can load letter or legal sized paper on its own, saving you and your company time and money. Other impressive paper handling features include an industrial size five hundred sheet multi purpose tray that can fit a whole ream of paper, and you can even add a second tray of equal size. This, along with a 50 sheet multi purpose tray brings the potential paper storage total to a staggering 1050 total sheets.
The fax memory capacity is an awesome 512 pages and PC fax is featured as well, though it is send only. Resolution can be set up to super fine for faxing, at 406 x 391 dots per inch and the 20 dedicated one touch speed dial locations will help you get your quality faxes sent faster, even from a double sided page source thanks to built in automatic duplexing.
Duplex printing and copying are also implemented, and are easily accessible through comprehensive dedicated controls. Also on board is an easy to use LCD screen to help you scroll through menus and up to 120 programmable speed dial locations.
As we’ve seen on many Canon models of this type, the Canon ImageClass D1150 uses a unique single cartridge system that combines drum and standard toner cartridge into one easy to replace ink device that can be changed rapidly.
There is also an expandable wireless option via a Silex wireless print server that can be purchased separately, though it can only operate with print and scan functions. Standard networking, however, can be achieved via the built in Ethernet port with no additional cost, and can help maximize the total usage you get out of your investment.
The Canon ImageClass D1150 and, its brother, the D1120 are essentially the same printer with the same features, excluding the Super G3 modem. Considering that the fax feature options included in this model will run you around a hundred extra dollars in cost, it should really only be considered if it would prove to be an indispensable addition to your business, as long as the cheaper model is available. Other than that, the wide array of easy to use and powerful features included with the hardware could serve any small business well.
