what could be wrong with my Pentax MX light meter?
i replaced the batteries but it still isn’t working. The rest of the camera is fine and in great condidtion but i need help with my light meter. any suggestions on what to do or what could be the problem?

When you turn it on, the LED’s in the viewfinder should momentarily flash.
If no LED’s ever light up you have a battery connection problem. Make sure the batteries are inserted in the right direction and use a flashlight to make sure the contact inside the camera is not corroded by leaking batteries.
If the LED is only showing the bottom red one, you have a photo sensor problem. Use a bright light (not the sun) to see if the meter LED’s “move”. Dial through the f/stop settings and the shutter speed settings. Change the ASA/ISO setting. Sometimes, the contacts get a little dirty and moving them around fixes the problem.

The light sensors are behind the focusing screen which is on the roof of the camera. I would STRONGLY recommend you not get into this area uless you are a) a highly skilled camera technician, b) not able to find a camera repair shop to check out your camera and are willing to lose your camera all together if you mess up. I would rather look for another used MX or use this one with a separate light meter than risk destryoing it by taking it apart and not knowing what I am doing. Check the other possibilities first.
