Camera choice help!!!!?
Hello I’m lookig to buy a new water proof camera for the summer and I don know which one to choose. My dicision is stuck between the Pentax optio W90 or the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-TX5 which one is better?
Wow! I finally met someone (sort-of) that knows of the TX5! The sony for sure is better, believe me I just got one for my vacation that I went on. Anyway, both have their flaws, but the Pentax has more. First the Sony. It is waterproof to half the depth of the Pentax. The Sony only has 10.2 mega-pixels, where the Pentax has 12.
Now for the Pentax. Its shockproof abilities are almost useless. It is shockproof up to four feet, unless you are really short, you would drop it from a lot higher of a distance. The TX5 is five feet. The Pentax does not have the ccds that Sony cameras are known for. Although the TX5 has two less mega-pixels, the quality of the pictures is better than any other compact camera. You may already know this, but it can take ten photos, and merge them all together so that everything is perfectly lit, and colored, with a 50% grain reduction. Even with out that, the pictures still come out way better, especially in low light conditions. The screen on the Pentax sinks compared to the TX5. The TX5 has a 3 inch touchscreen, giving easy control, and of course more room to see the pictures you took. The Pentax also looks, in my opinion, bulky and a little ugly. The TX5 is 3/4 of an inch, and looks good. I could go on and on about all of the cool things that the TX5 can do, like sweep panoramas and stuff, but I think it is clear now which is better.
Bottom line, the TX5 is an overall better camera because it takes better photos, can survive a normal drop, is more compact, and because Sony is well known for their quality and performance.
Oh, I forgot to tell you that the software that comes with the camera is really cool, you can search for people by their faces! It is also dustproof, and freezeproof as well.
