Brother Embroidery Machine!?
I am after a brother embroidery only machine, i also need the software with this, PE DESIGN 7 or PE DESIGN LITE, obviously the lite is alot less expensive, i want to produce my own designs but dont want to pay for somthing i do not need, has any1 any experience of these packages, also as ive been searchin for the software ive found various sites you can download them for free, however im under the impression you need the brother card reader/writer and you can only buy this with the software? has anyone any advice! Being student i need the cheapest way possible of acheiving my embroidery dream!!
Brother embroidery machines are actually both. Sewing and embroidery. This is something you want, so you don’t have to invest in two machines. the UL2001 have a disk drive you can transfer designs to the machine. Its a great machine. I own one. The other one I own is the 8500, and for this one you do need the card reader/writer since its the only way you can get the designs to the machine. Ebay will be your best bet to find the software. I really do not use my 8500 since its a lot easier to transfer designs using my disk drive. Hope this helped

The R4 Card And Emulators For DS Means Retro Gaming Fun
Some of my fondest R4 memories of video gaming are of my brother and I opening up our Christmas present some 20+ years ago to discover inside the box an Atari 2600 with 10 games. While younger game players don’t have any hands on experience with the Atari 2600, everyone has heard of it and has seen at least some of the screenshots out there on this thing we call the world wide web. Great memories indeed. My brother and I spents hours upon hours playing some of the best home conversions of arcade favorites for years to come on our good old Atari 2600.
Thankfully with the creation of Emulators for classic consoles, we’re now all able to enjoy some of the timeless classic games many of us grew up with.
For those of you that are not sure just what an “emulator” is, let me briefly explain. Emulators for the DS (or emulators for any other platform) are software programs that are created for the sole purpose of running games or applications that were written for or created for another piece of hard ware. For example, we know that an Atari 2600 can play Atari 2600 games without any trouble. That’s because the software or cartridges that are used on the Atari 2600 were made for and created with the Atari 2600 hardware in mind. Thus, the games run perfectly on the Atari 2600. Emulators for the DS aim to recreate, by way of software, all of the different bit of hardware and memory maps that a game would be looking to utilize or work with as if it were an actual Atari 2600 console itself. And it’s no easy task to have one piece of hardware fully emulate or mimic another.
While the Atari 2600 was revolutionary back in its heyday, the Nintendo DS or DSi is easily hundreds of times more powerful and capable of rendering sounds, graphics, even video. The trick however is to utilize and write software that will turn that Nintendo DS into an Atari 2600. It’s much like having an Atari 2600 running ON TOP OF the Nintendo DS itself. While the Atari 2600 was a “slow” game console by today’s standards, the Nintendo DS has to work twice as hard – or harder – to run both the software and then run the actual games themselves because it is NOT an Atari 2600.
Thankfully with years and years of NDS homebrew development emulator creators and programmers seem to have many things down to a science, and their software can mimic and emulate the hardware of many of the classic video game and arcade systems. No small feat considering the heavy processing work that has to be done by the NDS itself. In my article on Nintendo DS Homebrew I explained what homebrew was and why it is created. Emulators for the DS are also part of the homebrew umbrella. While not stand alone homebrew games themselves, they enable playing of retro games by their sheer existence.
Emulators have been around since the days of the old PC computers. Even the old Apple computers had emulators released for them, some in the form of software while others were hardware boards that enable users to use PC specific software on their Apple computers.
Emulation however really took off as PC’s got faster and quicker. In the early and mid 90′s there were emulators for most of the classic video game systems, all playable on any IBM / PC machine. You could fire up your PC and start playing your favourite Arcade games or Commodore 64 games. I have fond memories of reliving some of my childhood game playing on my PC in-between doing my regular work (which is what a PC was for after all, right?).
Many of these early emulators have since been ported to virtually every platform that could support the speed required to run the games or programs. And with the R4 Card for the Nintendo DS, you’re now able to enjoy many of your classic systems, in the palm of your hand. As hand held consoles become more and more powerful, it was only a matter of time that the most popular emulators were ported over. The only thing that was really holding back their potential was the inability to use these emulators on the Nintendo DS or DSi. That all changed with the release of NDS Flash Cards like the R4 Card for the NDS and the R4i SDHC for the Nintendo DSi. No longer did emulator makes have to even consider creating a cartridge, when the R4 Card was the ultimate homebrew / emulator card available.
One of my favourite emulators on my Nintendo DS and R4 Card setup is Stella. Stella is an Atari 2600 emulator that allows you to load and play all of your favourite Atari 2600 games, right on your Nintendo DS console. Games like Pitfall, Phoenix, and Journey bring back memories of days now long gone. And instead of having to pull out and dust off my Atari 2600 console, I can now comfortably play them on my Nintendo DS system thanks to my R4 Card. Being able to carry around not only some truly unique homebrew games, but also some of my favourite old classic games is what keeps me coming back to the Nintendo DS instead of systems like the PSP.
StellaDS is a complete emulator. By this I mean that once you load it on your R4 Card you’ll be greeted by the familiar blips and bleeps of your favourite Atari 2600 games. The games run just as quickly and as well as they did right on the Atari 2600 itself. The novelty is that I can carry around my collection on my NDS and get in a game of Pitfall no matter where I am.
It’s homebrew software like emulation that really makes the Nintendo DS stand out for die hard gamers. While it’s great to have unique and touch friendly games, having the option to play some of our favourite classics right on the NDS is what makes the Nintendo DS (and not the DSi) stand out from the crowd.

my brother stole a memory card with some personal pics on it?
it was stolen out of my bedroom from a secure location(a lock box that i keep all my personal belongings in, and is always kept locked with the keys on my dog tags which i wear all the time).my mom found a select few pics on her computer. i never showed/gave these to anyone. i was just messing around one night and i was just gonna delete them but i got distracted. what can i do legally to stop him from sending these pics or doing anything with them. or if he did already how can i find out. im in the military and cant afford to ruin my reputation cause of this please help!!!!!
You wear your tags all the time, but he got those pics from a secure locked box, so you either don’t have the only key or you are mistaken about the security on this box.
In either case, they are your private property and even were he to post said photographs on an internet forum somewhere legally they would not be able to post them without your permission.

Guide to receipt printer types
There are numerous types of receipt printing technology in the market today but which type is suitable for your business? This article covers the common types and explains which environment works best with each technology.
There are 3 main types of receipt printer
Thermal receipt printer
Thermal printers are now the most popular choice of receipt printer as they are often the most reliable and easy to use as they do not require any ink or ribbons. The technology relies upon chemically treated paper that is sensitive to heat. The printer heats the paper via holes in the print head to create text and graphics. Thermal printers are also regarded as the fastest type of receipt printer printing up to 250mm second making them very suitable to fast turnover environments such as supermarkets and high street retail.
Thermal receipts have one weakness due to their design as they fade very quickly in sunlight and can actually turn black if exposed to direct heat. Thermal receipts are therefore unreliable for businesses that require their receipts to remain readable for long periods of time due to regulations. Dual colour can be obtained by some models at the higher end of the market with special paper but the results can be disappointing and the technology is rarely used at present.
Thermal receipt printers are generally recommended for high turnover/ general retail and hospitality front of house.
Impact printers
This type of printer generally requires a ribbon which holds the ink like a typewriter and uses an impact mechanism that stamps the characters through the ribbon onto the paper. There are some models that can use paper that contain microcapsules of ink which burst upon impact and hence do not require ribbons but these are in small numbers and generally restricted to payment devices. Impact printers are easy identifiable as they are considerably noisier that other types of printer and are generally considerably slower than thermal printers. Impact printers are commonly the type that offers models with a two and three ply paper or a second roll for audit purposes. In recent years and in most environments this type of printer has been superseded by thermal printers due to their speed and lack of a need for consumables other than paper.
In certain markets impact printers remain dominant as in the banking and gaming industries. Kitchens in retardants and pubs tend to use impact printers as the receipts can not be erased by the heat. Some industries such as banking and gaming have regulations regarding certain types of receipts and about the length of time receipts are required to remain readable. Ink based receipts last considerably longer than thermal receipts and is therefore used by these industries as standard. It is worth noting that ribbons come in different colours such as purple, black, red and dual red/black with the latter ribbon being used to highlight certain transactions types such as refunds in red.
Impact receipt printers are recommended for kitchens, banking, gaming, and low turnover retail and hospitality environments.
Inkjet receipt printers.
Inkjet printers are regarded as the successor to impact printers as they also use ink but they offer a superior printing quality. Most inkjet printers allow printing via ink cartridges in two colours with normally a mix of black, green, red and blue. Businesses spend a great deal of time and resources on brand recognition and using colour is a popular way of doing this. The technology can also be put to great use by printing colourful advertising or promotions on the receipt thus generating return visits from the customers.
In reality the take up of inkjet receipt printers has been minimal. This is due to the perception that changing ink carts at the cash and wrap could be difficult and that the printers operate at a much slower speed than thermal printers. Inkjet receipt printers do however offer the same longer lasting receipts as impact printers making them suitable for most business types.
Inkjet receipt printers are recommended for low turnover retail, banks and gaming industry.
Manufacturers. So what brand should I go for?
This market is well serviced by numerous manufacturers with a wealth of choice and price range. As with many markets there is a huge influx of far eastern models at rock bottom prices. As with most things that you purchase, you get what you pay for and it is worth noting that with the major manufacturers you tend to get better products that last longer and receive better support if something goes wrong. Remember if your receipt printer stops working you will find it very difficult to trade. The general rule is the higher turnover your business achieves the better the receipt printer you should invest in.
Anything else?
Remember that the receipt printer you choose has to work with the software and hardware that you are going be using. Firstly check with the software supplier which brands and models the software supports. Also check that the printer you intend to buy has drivers for the operating system that you are going to be using. Lastly, ensure the printer has the right interface for the hardware that you are going to be using. Common interfaces are USB, Serial and parallel however Bluetooth and wireless are quickly gaining ground.

Does anyone have drivers for Epson TM-u220pd receipt printer?
My operating system is windows xp professional sp2 .The thermal printer is connected to the computer but cannot access it im in a spot any help will be greatly appreciated.
