Intellifax 770 can send and not receive – need a better internet researcher than myself?
We recently acquired a Brother Intellifax 770 we need to use for three weeks. We can send faxes and not receive. When we dial the fax # from a regular phone, we get the shriek sound of reaching a fax, but when sending a test fax, the sending machine repeatedly says “function was not completed.” the sending machine can successfully send faxes elsewhere.
The display on the Intellifax says RECEIVING when a fax call is coming in, but nothing happens. (I’ve confirmed paper is loaded properly, it does print properly when printing a report.)
The owners manual, found online, is not helpful nor was my search for “brother intellifax 770 not receiving” in google.
I hope someone is a great googler for me. This is really annoying.
p.s., it is set to auto receive FAX ONLY.
Try turning off, auto receive, and test if you can receive faxes, manually.

My brother is very smart, and has a Royal Conservatory of Music grade 10 diploma. He is also, very good at sports, and was the head of his High-School press. His GPA, is 3.6, and a GRE of 780, TOEFL scores are also high. He has been studying mad, and lost all his friends to get into Stanford Business. His SAT is 1450, too. He has graduated Seneca College. And now, he wants to get in Big Time. Also, his essays are extremely well done. He is very friendly, and I think he is going to be in Stanford.

poor line condition on fax machines?
i have a intelli 775 brother fax machines and i can receive fax but when i tried to send one it said that “poor line condition”. i already call the customer service and they said that i need to call my telephone provider and have them check the telephone line but there where all working pretty good when they check it. does anybody here knows how to fix this problem thanks you…
have you connected a phone to the jack and trined making and reciving calls from this line? is there static, or noise on the line?
did the phone company send out a tech, or did they just run a line test from the office, some troubles such as static may not show up on an MLT test from the office… if you do not have wire maintanace, and you think the trouble may be inside, perhaps you should have an independent telephone tech check the line for you it will be cheaper…
also if that works try connecting the fax to a good working number, and send and then recive a test fax from someone…
take a look at the line cord from the fax to the jack, make sure the pins are not corroded or the wire is not damaged…

Can someone offer a suggestion to clean a Brother MFC 8820D All in one Printer?
I have this printer at work. It functions well, but lately I get whatever logo, image, or even text is at the top of the page, also in the middle of the page. It looks very unprofessional. I have replaced the drum as the unit instructed and it did not help.
Any suggestions? I have slid the blue tab on the drum back and forth to clean it with no luck.
I’m guessing that the repeated image is not as clear or dark as the first image at the top of the page. Since this is a laser printer, there are a couple of things that can cause that. One is the drum unit, which you’ve already tried and that failed to correct the problem. The other part that commonly causes that is the fuser assembly. Often times as the fuser roller ages it loses it’s non-stick coating and images adhere to it and reprint a few inches down the page on the same page. My guess is this is your culprit. Try replacing the fuser unit and you should clean up your problem.
I suspect the blue cleaning tab you’re talking about doesn’t necessarily clean the drum, but some wires that are part of the imaging process.
