I’m looking into getting an outdoor camera.?
So i have it narrowed down to these two: olympus stylus tough 8000 vs Pentax Optio WPi.
The problem is alot of reviews show that the Olympus takes blury pics, i do want a rugged camera but not at the expence of photo quality, thats where i think the pentax comes in and is the direction i am leaning, i think the real question is. Does anyone out there know of a better model that takes superior quality photos, can get a lil dinged up, and hold the same compact…ness?
There is another Optio model that is waterproof, dustproof and shockproof. Glass quality is surely great as it’s a Pentax. It’s all up to you now to take superior quality photos.

Pentax Optio S5i Self-Destruct Timebomb – It’s fix-able, but how?
When I press the power switch, my Optio gives four rapid beeps and does not turn on in Capture mode. It will, though, turn on in Playback mode. The Pentax service depot here say I need a new system board costing 2/3 the price of the original camera, which is ridiculous. I have since learned that the fault is common to this model – there’s a non-rechargeable watch battery soldered to the memory card holder that goes flat and disables the camera after a few years (two in my case). All one needs to do, apparently, is replace the battery – a job that Pentax refuse to accept. I have dismantled the camera as far as I can, and can now see the battery. But I can’t figure out how to release the two orange ribbon cables that fasten the button pad to the rest of the camera. If anyone has any advice, or can direct me to a repair manual for the Option S5i, this will save me having to go out and buy a new (non-Pentax) camera.
I just took a look at the specs on that camera on dpreview. It is an awesome camera … but for the weird non-rechargeable watch battery.

I take it you have already scoured the Internet for what you are looking for, a repair manual.
You may just have to chalk it up to an expensive lesson in life and find another solution to your digital photo needs.
