My Pandigital software has a Trojan on it?
i bought a Pandigital slide & negative scanner, pulled it out of the box and started to set it up. i popped the cd rom into my computer to begin installing the ArcSoft program. i clicked the correct icon and get an error message: “An error occured: file execution failed.” my symantec auto-protect pops up saying i have a “TrojanAdclicker” on my D:SoftwareSetup.exe and it cannot delete it (nor can i manually through the antivirus program). even when i go into the files on the cd rom, i can locate the “Setup.exe” in the software file but cannot delete it. can someone help me out here? i’m puzzled as to why the setup application in the cd rom is a trojan.
i’ve already emailed and called them. nothing and i sat on hold for 5 mins before i hung up. called before 5. p.m. est.
and the virus scan came up negative
and the symantec auto-protect only comes up when i insert the cd rom.

Barnes and Noble Pandigital Novel multimedia ereader?
Does anyone have information about this? i need to know if you need wifi access to use, or if you can ‘buy’ books for this and store them. (taking a trip and as far as I know you can’t get wifi on a plane!)
The Pandigital ereader is not a B&N product, but will allow you to read e-books from the B&N store. It isn’t even released yet, so there’s no way of telling how good it will be. They estimate the battery charge at 6 hours, which is nothing compared to the week or more you get from a stand-alone e-reader. You do need a wi-fi connection to use and you can hook it up to a computer via USB. It’s an android based interface. It’s touch-screen and full color. You will be able to read whatever books you’ve downloaded on a plane (there is no internet connection necessary to access material you have downloaded).
Other options include the B&N Nook. They have a wi-fi only version for $149 and a wi-fi/3G version for $199. While there is a color touch-screen “strip” at the bottom of the screen that displays your book covers, the main display is e-ink, a black and white display that is similar to a reading a regular book. In fact, because it is not backlit like a computer screen, or i-pad screen or this new Pandigital Novel screen, you will need a light to read in the dark. On the other hand, it will not fade out in the sun.
Also available is the Amazon Kindle. 3G plus USB connectivity at $189. No color on this one and no wi-fi. However, Amazon has the largest library and usually has better prices.
Battery life for the Nook and the Kindle are a week or more even if you keep the wireless on.
The i-pad is a mini computer that likes to call itself an e-reader because e-readers are the flavor of the month. It is more a tablet computer. It is more expensive initially and you have to pay for 3G connectivity.
Sony also has a few readers out…can’t tell you much about them. One is more expensive; one less expensive; and one just about the same as the others.
All of these readers allow you to download book files to the device so you don’t need any internet connection to read whatever books you’ve already loaded into the device.
I’ve owned a kindle since June 2008 and love it. It has been worth every penny, and it cost a lot more pennies back then! LOL I haven’t seen anything interesting enough in any of the other readers that tempt me to change readers. Plus, Amazon is absolutely fantastic in their support of the Kindle. During the warranty period of one year, they will overnight you a replacement for almost any reason and you have 30 days to return the broken one. Somehow, I just don’t see these other merchants being so supportive.
There are a lot of choices out there and different limitations on each – they can only read certain formats, for instance. So, spend some time looking through the libraries available for each reader as well as the capabilities of each one you’re interested in, so that you don’t suffer buyer’s remorse
