Is This A Good Bicycle For Me?
I have a disability called spina bifida which limits my foot movement, my balance. After doing some research I found a type of bike called Elect Assist bike (EAB) which has a motor to help cruise along without having to pedal so much. Being a kid 12 years old, I have never been able to ride a bike so when i found this I got really excited !! Anyways my solutions to the balance was the motor because my brother says speed is what keeps you balanced on 2 wheels. For my feet, they cannot be kept on the pedal without flopping around so I would just add on a set of wheel straps I can get at my local rehab center for the disabled.
Do you think this type of bike will be good for me?

I would get an electric tricycle instead of a bike, you won’t have to worry about balance when you stop and you can put pedals with toe straps on to help keep your feet on the pedals.

Should my sewing machine sew over pins?

I am very new to sewing and am still learning. I thought I had read in a book that you shouldn’t sew over pins, but my mom told me that the machine can handle it without any problems.
Is this an opinion kind of thing, or are there hard and fast rules?

I am a sewing machine technician and can tell you a lot of my business comes from people who sew over pins. I wish I could remember how many jammed up pins I have taken out of machines in for service. Shure, you can sew over pins but you will relinquish the right to complain when you get one in the bottom or hook area jamming the machine and causing damage you have to pay someone like me to fix. But that’s not the main reason not to sew over pins. The main reason is how much you like your eyes. When a needle hits a pin and it breaks it usually flies somewhere. How hard is it to imagine that it could fly into your eye? It happens. People who like to sew over pins should be wearing safety glasses at least. I will always be against people sewing over pins, even though it brings me a good deal of business. And maybe an eye doctor or two as well.

The Brother CE4000 sewing machine has a nice assortment of stitches including some beautiful, decorative patterns, great automation and easy set up features.
The computerized control panel is a breeze to use with just four push-button controls focused around the LCD screen. The stitch reference guide printed right on the front of the machine makes it really easy to choose your desired pattern.
Brother CE4000 Stitch Patterns
There are a total of 40 built-in stitches on this sewing machine. Stitch width is adjustable to 7mm on select stitches and stitch length is adjustable to 5mm which provides 77 total stitch functions. Included in the built-in stitch patterns are 5 styles of 1-step buttonholes.
Patterns include a little bit of everything from utility stitches like straight, zigzag and blind hem, to satin scallops and beads. There are also a few intricate cross stitch patterns, a pretty scroll designs, piecing and joining stitches, and overcasting stitches for sturdy seams.
Brother CE4000 Presser Feet
Seven snap on presser feet are included with this sewing machine. The Zigzag foot also has a leveling button which helps it work over extra-thick seams or edges. Presser feet include: Zigzag (General Purpose), Buttonhole, Overcasting, Monogramming, Zipper, Blind Stitch, and Button Fitting.

There are three particular features that can really make setting up your sewing machine as easy as possible and this machine has them – a quick-set, drop in bobbin, an automatic needle threader, and an automatic bobbin winder.
The Brother CE4000 also includes some advanced sewing features like a drop feed dog lever, variable needle positions, adjustable top thread tension, and twin needle sewing.
The maximum sewing speed is 850 stitches per minute and the Brother CE4000 employs a six-point feed dog system which is very reliable for smooth fabric flow.
Thread delivery is vertical and an extra spool pin is included for the twin needle functionality. Although there is no needle up/down button, you can reset the machine to default to either stopping with the needle in the up position or in the down position by holding down one of the stitch setting buttons while turning on the machine. The manual walks you through how this is done.
The flat-bed removes for free-arm sewing. The bobbin cover is see-through so you can quickly tell how much bottom thread is left in your machine. There is a built-in carry handle and a work light over the needle arm. Using the right needle, this machine is capable of working with thin, medium, and thick weight fabrics as well as jersey and other stretch materials.
A number of sewing accessories come with the machine and store easily inside the free-arm compartment. These include a seam ripper, bobbins, needles, a twin needle, cleaning brush, screwdriver, and an extra spool pin.

Ever heard the phrase “under-promise and over-deliver”? When they created the Brother CS6000i computerized sewing machine, they took that to heart. You can hardly find this kind of functionality anywhere else for under $200.
It has been a major hit with beginners for several years, earning over 800 consumer reviews online, more than any other sewing machine available on the internet. While some find the more high end computerized sewing machines to be difficult to learn, this one is not. Set up and operation are very simple.
Brother CS6000i Stitch Patterns
For its price, it offers an incredible number of built-in stitches. A total of 60 stitches are included – utility stitches for straight stitching, mending, clothes making, and hemming as well as a number of decorative stitches, heirloom stitches and quilting stitches. The total count includes 7 styles of one-step buttonholes.
Brother CS6000i Presser Feet
The sewing machine comes with seven snap-on style presser feet: Buttonhole, Overcasting, Monogramming, Zipper, Zigzag, Blind Stitch, and a Button Fitting foot.
Additional presser feet fitting low-shank machines can be purchased separately but the included selection is more than sufficient to get started. As you progress and take on quilting or craft sewing, a walking foot might be a nice addition.

To start with, there’s automated stitch control and speed adjustment that don’t require the use of a foot pedal (although one is supplied). Most computerized models cost far more than this one does. The stitch count and selection are fantastic. It easily accommodates quilting, comes with accessories that have to be purchased separately for other machines, an automatic needle threading system, twin needle sewing, an extra wide work area, and a hard cover case (which is often not included with most machines in this price range).
Beginners like that they can learn to use this machine for basic projects but can also expand their horizons with other types of sewing whenever they’re ready. An LCD screen displays your stitch selection along with the presser foot required for that stitch. There’s an extra wide work table to help with larger projects and one-touch Start/Stop and Reverse buttons.
An automatic needle threader is built-in and the extension arm can be removed for free-arm sewing. Upper thread tension can be adjusted with a dial on the sewing machine, and the speed control button can limit how fast the machine moves eliminating the risk of pressing too hard on the foot pedal during such tasks.
The broad selection of stitches and easy operation make this a very flexible machine. The Brother CS6000i computerized sewing machine is as popular as it is because it offers incredible value and consistent performance at a very reasonable price.

Can I buy a walking foot from a different brand than the one from my sewing machine?
I have a Brother E 2000 and it did not include a walking foot. I was wondering if feet are universal.
There are “will-fit” feet out there. In general, however, a food made for a particular brand of machines will work better than the will-fit. The generic feet tend to be cheaper than the brand name feet, however.
Do you really need a walking foot? I find them pretty clunky and prefer to do just about anything else — fusible batting or spray adhesive, better fabric handling, etc., etc.

Rob Clayton was born on 1963 in Dayton, currently lives and works in Pasadena and Christian Clayton was born on 1967 in Denver, currently lives and works in Valencia. Los Angeles artists Rob and Christian Clayton are brothers, collaborators, and the best of friends. Collectively they work as the Clayton Brothers, producing dynamic, improvisational, yet purposeful and humane paintings, installations and mixed-media works on paper. The Clayton Brothers’ approach to art-making is a collaborative process: one brother begins a painting, then hands it off to the other, then back again, and so on. Their art is narrative, autobiographical, uncanny and intuitive, culled from the secret language of a shared childhood. Rather than nostalgic musings about youth, the Clayton Brothers’ recollections of the past are revealed through a twisted lens of adulthood. At once epic and intimate, the Clayton Brothers’ layered paintings become stories where the matrix of two psyches – independent, but related – weave together elements of memory and the subconscious using the seemingly innocuous – the TV dinner, the toothbrush, the dastardly squirrel- as metaphors and messengers.For brothers Rob and Christian Clayton collaboration is more than a process: the concept of symbiosis resonates through every aspect of their paintings and installations. Working from their Californian high street studio, the Clayton brothers draw inspiration from their immediate environment, incorporating local businesses, neighbourhood regulars, and snippets of overheard conversations as subjects for their paintings. Composing their pieces conjunctively, motifs, gestures, places, and figures reoccur within different works, creating inter-linked dramatic scripts. Set on collaged canvases, the physical layering of their surfaces reflects their condensed tableaux. Approaching painting as a visual representation of pure energy, everyday scenes explode in vortexes of blinding colour, animated movement, and product placement, giving the effect of viewing every frame of a film simultaneously. Through presenting a locality, the Clayton brothers relate the personal to the global. Is stand really needed for the Brother PR600?
I am in the market to buy this machine or the Baby Lock version. I was wondering will the machine be more stable on the stand or will it work just as well on a counter top? I was thinking it could maybe move around on the counter top.
I own the PR 600 and can say that if you have a sturdy table you can use the PR 600 easily on a table top, but of you do not, I would recomend the stand. The stand has stabilizers to make it level. If you are planning on using this machine in more than one location I would suggest getting the stand. If you are purchaing new, you can talk the dealer into throwing in the stand as a package deal.
